Why should I not buy this Gen 7 Celica??
Discussion
My brother is after a gen 7 celica , the 1.8 VVTLI one with 190 bhp.
he has seen this one with 59,000 miles, but after further looking has seen others that are worth 2500+ with the same milage and spec.

any reasons he should not buy it?
i know 'if its too good to be true it is' and im starting to think this and so is he, but im also thinking damn good deal,
he has done a HPI text check and its come back clean, but when you chuck the reg into confused.com it does not recognise it..... and that has got him thinking something is dodgy about it.
anyone?

1) God awful wheels
2) God awful tints
3) Damaged rear bumper
4) Damaged front bumper & wing
5) Strange lights on front bumper, don't recall seeing them on a Celica before. Import?
6) Badly written advert with no mention of service history
That about covers it. If I was in the market for a Celica, I'd have spent about as long looking at the advert as I did to get the above details and movers on.
A golden rule somebody once old me, if there is something about a car that makes you suspicious and unsure, then walk away...

That is not the VVTLI. If you look carefully you can see it redlines at 7k. I have the VVTLI I it goes up to 9K on the dial.
Not to mention the rather poor condition, silly alloys, window tint and what looks like an aftermarket spoiler.
Also, the 'T sport' spec started 03 onwards. It was VVTI-190 before that. This car is neither of them, its the 140bhp version.

...and you can buy a 140hp one for half that again...

That is a whole heap of nasty!
All correct & valid pointers above, definately an import due to the marker lamps in the bumpers.
Base spec 140bhp - no leather, digital climate.
There's no way that drivers seat has done 'only' 59,000 miles!
Genuine T-Sports are from 2003 and have front skirt, side skirts & rear spoiler, T-Sport wheels, 2-tone full leather interior, climate and no sunroof.
A 190 with the dynamic pack would be a cheaper option no doubt.
A standard unabused, messed about with car has got to be the sensible purchasing option, although I'm sure those examples are quite rare nowadays!
Happy hunting.
