Sub 7 second to 100mph (in a Chim)

There are some very powerful Chimaeras in build, a supercharged LSA and also a turbo LS.

But I've created this topic because of what has just happened in the real world.
An event independantly timed.

Plenty will have seen Derek achieve the sub 11 second time on the 1/4 mile time at York just yesterday, something he has been building towards for many months.

I raise the point of the 1/8 mile numbers.
101.60mph in 7.0987 seconds

So if we take away 0.1 seconds (rounding the numbers), what would the speed be?

The answer is less than 1.6mph less, because (extrapolating) 1 second does not gain 16mph, not in 3rd gear high in the rev range, nor in 4th.

So its very safe to say that 100mph was achieved in a time less than 7 seconds

and to Derek for doing that !!!

That is a fantastic figure, and I have passed on my congratulations already .
But what does this equate to in regards to other cars?, There is a reference to Gallardo but 100 in 7 secs seemed a bit quick even for the Lambo.
I have found this as a comparison if any one wishes to know just how quick Dereks car is!

The standard Griff and Chimaera 500 time is 10.5
And just for some the S2000 type s is 14.4

I was well aware of that 0-100 and quite shocked to be honest. It matches that of Brummmies awesome Cerbera that had a much quicker 60 foot from an excellent launch. When i save up the pennies for some decent driveshafts then i am sure i can launch just as hard taking maybe 1.5 tenths off the 60 foot. Many racers equate that every tenth at 60 foot is worth at least 2 tenths at the 1/4.

Soooo theoretically i have the potential to run 10.6

But the tax is up at the end of the month so the car will be put to bed for a well deserved rest and a strip down to see if its suffered. I want to have the cylinder heads refurbed properly ahead of next year anyway. Oh and maybe forged pistons might be a good idea. I cant believe the 4.0 cast items are still in 1 piece. Definately the strongest cast RV8 piston.... no cutouts and a thicker top ringland make all the difference IMHO.

And just for some the S2000 type s is 14.4

I suppose it also depends on which list of 0-100 times you use.
