Fantastic story.

There was a story I remember from the local news many years ago - mid 90s maybe - of a light yellow one owner Vauxhall Viva with under 500 miles on it ... a woman used it to take her mum shopping once a week since she bought it in the late 60s ... and it lived in a heated garage. Similar story (ish)

True, originality is priceless but it is lost once restoration takes place (IMHO)

I had a good look over it last year - it's not been restored. It spent most of its life as a dealers showroom queen, iirc, so hasn't seen the elements at all.

Happy to be proved wrong on this Mark but I'm looking at some of the bolts inside the boot which I wouldn't expect to be body coloured and likewise the chassis which AIRC from my own Heralds, 'back in the day' was always black.

Mind you...... The state of my Heralds and the state of my memory these days doesn't make me a good judge!

I don't know Heralds to that depth of detail, but it looked as I would expect for an untouched car, rather than a restoration. Certainly there didn't appear to be any "additional" care given to the building of it, for example the panel gaps were pretty poor - the restored cars I've seen rarely feel the need to replicate that, for some reason...
There is a Triumph specialist quite close to where I saw it, but I think he tends towards Spitfires & Stags, rather than Heralds - it was also for sale deep into Gods Waiting Room territory, so the story attached to it sounded reasonable, althought the specifics elude me now.
