Learning to drive the 996TT
Discussion
Ok so I now have a beast of a car I'd like to make some proper use of it (after I've fixed the engine coolant leak bah). I've not tracked before and would like to learn how to handle the car properly to avoid putting it in a bush. What's the best option for this? I'm with Admiral so don't have track insurance. I'd really like to learn how to handle the car at its limits so I'm more confident if it steps out. Based in London.
By the way are there any companies that offer one day track insurance?
Cheers, Tim

CAT Driver Training at Millbrook. Tailor made for what you want. Absolutely fantastic day - can't recommend it enough. By the way are there any companies that offer one day track insurance?

You'll find out that the chances of the car letting you put it in a bush are pretty slim, btw. And you can probably skip the insurance. You won't need it.

Hi yeah there are a few companies who do just track day insurance. moris.co.uk are quick and based online (cheap) Competition Car Insurance are another but you have to call them up. Good thing about these 2 is they have been doin it for ages so know their stuff. Ive used both over the yrs.

Have you looked into the porsche one to one tuition they offer that their experience centre at Silverstone in your car? It's c.£145 for an hour the. £90 for subsequent lessons. I was planning to take my turbo there as a safe taster.
You aren't going to end up going that fast, unless you are able to drive on the main circuit, but the quality of the tuition is first class. I did an afternoon session and they really showed me how to handle a rear engined car (not that I am a driving god now, but I then really understood why a 911 is better than many other fast cars out there)

And why is that? Must admit, i'm very dubious of corners in mine as I don't know the car well enough to push it but it exhilarating when you point it straight! Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
