245/45/r18 vs 245/50/r18 - does it really matter...?

As per thread title. Can I fit 50 profile tyres where 45 is OE?

They are for MrsT's S-Max.

Probably not for an S-max.

How much clearance have you got and how do you use it? Lowered, fully laden or enthusiastic cornering could be a problem.

Well they'll be about 12mm taller in the side wall. Which is quite a lot really.
Bit slower acceleration too( theoretically)

245/45 will read lower speed than 245/50 about 4%
