Due to a change in personal circumstances (Getting married and buying a house) it looks like I have to cancel my M5 order. The car is due for delivery by 2nd week of October.

I have been told by BMW this is the last opportunity to get a new M5 this year (3 month delivery times) and the special leasing rates have been removed and may not return.

Spec is:

Singapore Grey
Silver leather
Anthracite fineline trim
Split fold seats
Heated steering wheel
Reversing camera.

The car is ordered through BMW Coopers in Thames Ditton - PM if you have any questions and I can drop you my contact there.

Curse of the female strikes again.

Hope you don't get left too much out of pocket.

Did the dealer refund your deposit? I had to cancel my order (although for far less positive reasons). I have asked for my deposit back but unsurprisingly the dealaer hasn't contacted me to return it - and I have been too focused on other things to chase it yet.

Don't worry, you'll be able to get back on the wagon soon after, just make sure it's before she starts asking for an addition to the family; and I don't mean a dog.

Thanks Panthro...

So far I have had a couple of people interested in my M5 but nothing fixed yet.

Remember, you can live in a car but you can't drive a house!

Seriously though i'd check your small print as you cant normally just sell on your slot as its a contract between you and the supplying dealer, although if you do find someone it may put you in better stead to get all your deposit back.

Thanks Areo - I spoke with the dealer and they said someone could take on the car and they would offer them the same terms or change them to suit their needs.

You guys will be lucky to get your deposits back, specially on a spec't new vehicle. Even on deposited showfloor car cancellations you will have to fight hard for a deposit back..

Good luck though........

The M5 will be much more enjoyable than the wife beyond the honeymoon. Tell her it can't be cancelled or you will lose the same cost as the wedding.

Mark my words. This is the right thing to do. You are a long time dead.

What is the score in a case like this? Do you have to pay the 6 months deposit when you order the car? Is that what you may lose, or have you in effect signed a 24 month contract and you are liable for that in full?

Closer to 3 months deposit and the dealer is being really good - if he can return the deposit he will, on the basis he finds another buyer.
