I didn't know where to put this, but...

I had a new double din unit fitted to my Saab a couple of weeks ago. It has been wired so that it comes on at the second click on the ignition switch, rather than the first. This means all the lights are on, prior to the engine firing to listen to the stereo while stationary.

I read a while ago that leaving the ignition switched on overheats the coil packs and is not generally a good idea. Or am I just stupid?

I'd heard the same thing about old style coils, not heard it about modern coil packs.
