Just watched it on iPlayer. I generally find Corden pretty annoying, but thought it was strong enough elsewhere, not a bad 1st half hour.

I'm a former classmate of Mat Baynton. He's a very talented chap.

Would be much better without Corden. He's just not needed and can only play himself.

...Looks like Smithy has got a job in the post room!

Thought it was quite good.

the scene in the operating room would have been better with a less annoying actor.

Oddly the same comment we both made to each other last night. One trick pony it seems.

Yeah, but how many other 'actors' basically play themselves in different things? Loads! But that doesn't stop me from watching their shows - yeah, you could argue it's 'one dimensional' or something - but really, this is entertainment - who really cares? For example - anything with Ricky Gervais in is Ricky Gervais - TV shows, theatre shows, and his Hollywood films. It's Ricky Gervais playing himself, basically - but if you like the guy, then that's fine isn't it?

If you want to see high-brow, method acting with incredible professional versatility, then go visit some stuffy theatre somewhere biggrin

Anyway, WRT the thread - I watched episode 1 and loved it! Anything a bit silly with 'lads' in it, and some daft humour (reminded me of the Simon Pegg / Nick Frost stuff) is good. I am looking forward to episode 2 - my only complaint is that it should be on for an hour it seemed to finish before it started!!

Oh no, I wouldn't be watching this in that case...

Not sure that's fair to Gervais. The scene where Andy Millman breaks down in the BB house was brilliant acting, and definitely not playing himself.

Now Dennis Waterman, there's a guy who's had a whole career being Dennis Waterman.

Just watched the first one, it was good but half an hour was a bit short for it. I think it would be better at 45 minutes or an hour. I don't mind Corden, even if he is always the same character. Looking forward to the next one now smile

Certainly a novel idea, bill it as a comedy but don't put any jokes in it. Don't think i laughed once. I'll give it another go but James Corden spoils it with his Smithy routine.
