Excuse my ignorance but i've only had my 280 for a couple of months, so i'm pretty new to all this lark! Can anyone tell me whether I can buy an off-the-shelf replacement radiator for my pride and joy. I don't know whether its a ford part, or whether its a custom unit. Thanks

What wrong with it? Re-core?

No, the small copper pipe that is just below the filler cap has snapped clean off. (The one that is connected via rubber tube to the header tank). Water everywhere when revving! The actual core itself is fine.

We had a generator rad with one of them leak. Under 20 quid repair. This one looked like to was soldered in, but the rad was leaking elswhere thats why we paid for the repair. Otherwise we would have soldered it ourselves.

Ok cheers! Just out of interest, is it a 'TVR' part or was it taken from a ford or some other car?

The one that we had leaking just neede re-soldering on. It was a seperate peice. Try a radiator repair place. Yellow pages is how we found our repairer. That is assuming yor rad neck is the same type of construction!

Is your radiator the upright radiator just in front of
the engine? If so, I believe it was a Ford part.
Mine actually has a Ford logo stamped in the top of the
radiator.
Any good radiator shop should be able to repair the
piece that snapped off of yours.

I think I heard a rumour it was from a transit, but I would take it to your local Serk Marston reconditioners, they may even do it while you wait

Cheers Phill. I've actually had the repair done now (only cost a tenner) but, having inspected the radiator while it was out of the car, I think It'll need a recore fairly soon, so I'll bear them in mind.
