Boxster M030 Kit
Discussion
After a post on here regarding an upgraded suspension kit for my Boxster S, I went for the MO30 kit with uprated anti roll bars.
I had fitted Federal RSR tyres and had the alignment done to factory settings but with as much negative camber as possible (around 1 to 1.5')
I booked onto an Apex trackday at Blyton the other week and was really pleased with how the car handled. The brakes are slightly upgraded also with bell mounted discs (performance friction) plus their pads front and rear. It has made a really nice track car which is also nice on the road.
The shoulders of the tyres did not wear unduly and the brakes stood up well to normally around 20 minute sessions.
I have now booked onto the Apex day at Coombe this friday so I will push it a bit harder now I am used to it. (May be not at Quarry though!!!!)

The M030 kit makes a massive difference - the most cost-effective suspension improvement you can make. Don't think you can get more than 1' negative camber without modifying the top mounts.
PF discs, eh? Only on the front I presume, coz I don't think they do rears. Which pads are you using with these? Are they noisy on the road? I tried PF06s with standard discs and they squealed like a very squealy thing! They do last, though - I did two track days on them on the road car then put them on the race car for a 45 minute endurance race and they've still got plenty of life left in them!

I have a tip M030 kit on my manual Boxster S and have had the top mount chassis slots modded to allow more negative camber. I'm running a shade over -1.5. Mine is a pure road car and it feels great. After a big Euro trip just now i have thought about upgrading the brakes but for me it would be an upgrade for no real reason as there was no problem with the standard stuff even hammering down the mountains endlessly, apart from melting the pad wear sensors.

I recently bought a 986S with obvious negative camber on rear wheels (but none on front). The car is my daily driver - will the negative camber make a big difference to the tyre life?
Set up for under steer like that and yes, depending on the amount of camber on the rear you will wear the inside edge faster.EDC - did you fit the M030 kit for Tiptronic to your manual 986S in its entirety ie did you substitute any different rear springs to suit your manual? If you used the Tiptronic kit unaltered, did everything fit well? Does it make the ride much more firm than the normal S suspension?
Thanks for your help.

Everything went on as is no problem. A few months previously all the suspension arms were changed. 2 new 997 front top mounts went on and 1 replaced drop link. The ride is firmer than normal S suspension. I now have a 550 Anniversary which has the M030 as standard. To be perfectly honest this current car has had no work and my previous S handled much better. A good set up makes as much difference as the M030 in itself. Is the tip kit any different to my current one in terms or ride/compliance? I'll be damned if you could really tell the difference. Once I have renewed the arms and had a good Geo done then I will be in a much better position to make a comparison. Would I have an M030 car over a standard car? Every day of the week. You have to bear in mind also that most standard suspension will be well shot by now. My S was a 2000 on about 60k when the arms were done. The M030 was fitted a couple of months after. The 550 is a 2004 on 105k and whilst there are no abnormal noises I know the suspension is crap compared to how it can be. I would say to any owner of a 986 no matter how old or how many miles to get the arms changed at least. That is exactly what I am going to do shortly (again!).Thanks for your help.
With the tip kit you get a smidge more rear height which means more rake which also means better ability to get the front and rear camber balance ratio right. It may be the 'wrong' kit but it works and actually has a number of advantages, not least being available at that time! Click my profile and see my posts on boxa.net
I also fitted the tip m030 to my 986S - It's a bargain
The thing that really let my car down at Silverstone (apart from my driving) was the lack of support in the seats. I've just fitted a Sparco seat and it really improves the car, complementing the extra firmness of the m030 and giving me much more suport. I can use the wheel for steering now, rather than for support

I had the front strut tower slots slightly lengthened to get more camber. The only thing left to do is adjust the rear camber - my rear camber & toe adjusters have seized, so that's a nice job for this winter...
I'm thinking about going to Donington this weekend to see how it all works
