Boxster S oil pressure light

Got the trackday bug now and have recently had some fairly mild upgrades to my suspension and brakes.
My car is a 2003 facelift Boxster S with under 50000 miles, well serviced and seems a good car.
If out on track or a very spirited road drive, when the car is idling, it sometimes flashes up on the dash, low oil pressure?
The engine sounds sweet and seems to pull well. Is this anything to be worried about?

it could be as simple as the car has only 1 oil pick up in that year car causing oil starvation and low pressure.
Now you have done the suspension and are a bit better driver, the oil is just not being picked up from the pump.
later gen 2 cars have more oil pick up points.
you state "If out on track or a very spirited road drive"
but then state when the car is still !!!
A cheap fix is to just buy spacer for the sump, which would be not 100% perfect but a cheap fix and allow more oil which in theory should be enough for the pump to not starve.
what tyres are you using as r spec would also give you too much grip and again oil issues and the sump extender prob not good enough if you are running r spec.
you can fit Dual Tandem Oil pumps but at great cost
or you can go the Lotus route and fit a Accusump this is designed to collect pressurized oil from your engine and store it so it may be discharged later during low oil pressure surges.
It may not be this as you do state "when the car is idling" which does not then affect oil pick up points.
but either way the oil pick up on track if you have sus mods will be a issue.

I can't advise on who to fit it as I'm not from that area, but any good indy would be more than capable. Its about an hour's work to do.
Whats your oil temperature? What grade of oil are you running and what quality?
I will guess that a combination of very hot and not particularly suitable oil is leading to a tickover pressure low enough to illuminate the lamp.
Worn bearings will exaggerate this, but theyd have to be pretty bad to be the cause.
