according to the pdf at

"The high-revving six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology newly developed for the new BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe produces maximum output of approximately 430 hp. Its peak torque soars far beyond 500 Newton metres (369 lb-ft), outstripping the figures recorded by the outgoing BMW M3 by well over 30 per cent. And yet the engine also achieves a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions of around 25 per cent. The weight of the cars has been reduced to just under 1,500 kilograms, which helps to ensure outstanding driving dynamics andexceptional efficiency."

Looking good smile

Wow, if those numbers are right it's going to be seriously quick. Faster than the M5, surely?

Evo are claiming it's 423 BHP. Torque up 70 lb ft and weight down by 80kg's.

Not as impressive figures as I was hoping especially as the soon to be replaced C63 AMG kicks out 457bhp and 600 lb ft

I will be utterly astonished if it's less than 1500kgs because however hardcore M drivers think they are, they still want every gimmick and option under the sun.

Still looks great though and I actually like the step back down to a six pot.

I agree BMW would have to try hard but it seems a 320d's kerb weight is 1495kg (does that include the 68kg passenger?) so perhaps they can pull it off. But as you say, most UK M3s would then be optioned up and be up to 100kg heavier....

1500kg would make it, what, 250kg lighter than a C63? eek

The target or assumed 0-62 mph time is very very similar (4.8 335d) to that of the new F30 335d! Whereas in the E90 the difference between stock M3 & 335d was nearly 1.5 seconds if not more now its barely 0.2seconds

I'm a little suspicious of the F30s 0-60 times - take the 330d with around 40 less bhp than an E90 335d. Yet it's apparently around 0.4s quicker to 60. And how has the 335d shaved over a second off that time with only a tiny bhp increase?! Unless BMW has secretly fitted 4WD and launch control, the F30 figures seem rather suspicious. Yes the new gearbox is quicker but only very slightly.

Yes, because e90 was 2wd for both. F30 is 2wd for M3 and 4wd for 335i Xdrive - this makes a big difference for the first second or so.

20-100 is where it's at.

This was the last semi-official looking snap that was taken last month, guess they might add a few more bhp with software and exhaust tweaks before the official release though.

335d F30 is 4x4 and its 313bhp up from 286bhp so 27bhp more.

The new sport auto is very quick - the old e90 330d LCI 258bhp in manual form it was near identical -62mph as the auto only 335d.
