OK I am sure this have been done to death before somewhere but cannot find much on the search. I am looking to replace all the dampers on the car over the winter with the springs if I can get them. Mine are fine at the moment but I know that the car is settling due to age... I suspect the ones on might be original and be 24/25 years old! I prefer to replace like for like so I am looking to source the proper springs and red Koni's for the car. Anyone know the part numbers / details and where to get them?

TIA

I think the Konis are no longer available but the springs from RT racing are. It's fair to say Chris you may be forced into choosing what is on the market where the choice will be driven by what you can buy for you money.

I have a Steve Heath front spring compressor you can have and will be more than happy to assist with the replacement to save labour costs as I've done the changeover many times before when sorting out my own suspension issues.

It's been in my mind to look at changing springs and possibly dampers at some point - problem is no one knows what the spring rates are (or are keeping it secret) and I'm not about to spend a few hundred on a device to check the rates. I think once you know what you have, you can get a couple of sets made up to try, depending on whether you want to go lower, firmer etc.
BTW, I made one of the SH spring compressors as well if you want to borrow it.

Phil,

How did you arrive at the spring rates you wanted - did they measure the existing?

Ive got spring compressors you can use.

Ive also just had the Taimar konis rebuilt by Sp suspension, they completely refurbed the old units as I didnt want to get new/different shocks to keep it more 'original' and although the finish is a little more red than I wanted they are pretty damn good!!

Give me a shout tomorrow morning, and if youre about you can help drop the new super duper engine into the Taimar (get the bloody thing out of the boot of the touran that means!)

Just fitted a front pair of ProTec I bought off RT about 4 years ago, Fitted the rears at the time of buying but only just got around to doing the fronts, has made a definite difference to handling already. Don't know if he still does ProTec.

Gaz from their database.

They must of kitted out a fair few wedges over the years.

I can ask for spring rates if you wish but mine are different to stock as they are taking into consideration I'm now running 18" rims!

May I suggest you call or mail them as they are really very helpful.
