Engine Bay Matt Black Paint Code
Discussion
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there was ever a specific paint code for the matt black paint used in TVR engine bays? I have the feeling they might have used whatever was lying about or on offer from the paint wholesaler but I live in hope.
I'm trying to touch up the engine bay of a 1992 Griffith 430 but don't want to do a total respray of the bay. Body is off the chassis now so I can't take it to a bodyshop for a colour match.
Cheers,
Simon

I see your dilemma.
I would be guessing that even the matt black inside the engine bay would have faded since new, so an exact match of the original may not be that useful in any case.
Likely it's 1) do the whole thing; 2) trial and error; 3) take a sample chip of paint for matching.
If you've gone as far as a body off, it seems a very good time to do a complete engine bay respray, and new heat shielding if needed.
