Importing a Car - Insurance to start outside the UK

Good Morning,

I am looking to buy a car in Belgium and drive it back to the UK, it will take 3 hours to get to Calais to board the Channel Tunnel. Every car insurer I speak to wont cover the car until it reaches UK soil, which makes an illegal and nerve wracking drive home.

Does anybody know of any insurer that would issue a policy that incepts in Belgium ?

As with most car insurers the "computer says no" without any real though into why. They will cover it on chassis number once in the UK until i get it registered, but i need the three hours.

Any advice would be appreciated.
