Overturned lorry causes M1 delays in Hertfordshire...Why?
Discussion
The M1 in Hertfordshire has reopened after a lorry overturned early on Thursday morning, blocking four lanes.
The crash, which happened just after junction eight near Redbourn at about 06:00 BST, closed the northbound carriageway for nearly five hours, while recovery took place.
The driver was not injured and no other vehicles were involved, police said.
Why did this take so *******! long!

You try picking a truck up when they capsize, not bloody easy and the last thing I want is impatient t

I think this picture will show you the problem and why.The crash, which happened just after junction eight near Redbourn at about 06:00 BST, closed the northbound carriageway for nearly five hours, while recovery took place.

I heard this on the radio this morning, apparently it was due to not only the overturned lorry but a fuel spill? I can't imagine it's a case of getting some floor wipes and giving the road a good going over, but then I don't work in the emergency services so don't really qualify for comment...
Have you ever seen a demonstration of righting an overturned HGV.
Due to their construction you can't just roll it like a car, the
superstructure is 'flimsy' to say the least making a 'top' lift
impossible.
You can only 'pull' from the uppermost section of the chassis. The
main problem is to stop the side on the ground from sliding.
Pic: Red is pulling area, Blue is the 'stop' it sliding area.

Presumably after emptying the 20T+ load by hand, and before clearing up debris and fuel. 5 hours doesn't seem bad IMO.Due to their construction you can't just roll it like a car, the
