Sc power supercharger....
Discussion
Sure this has been covered many time but now kits around, £3k very tempted to order one , however I have a few questions.
- site advises compression test and cam check, I assume these are not diy jobs?
- is the installation really do-able at home. I have a massive 4 car car port, but are specialist tools required.
- I suspect insurance is more difficult to sort out?
- does anything else need upgrading, injectors ect.
- is there a point in super charging without changing ECU, wiring loom etc.
- what is reliabilty like? I accept that clutch prob won't last as long and so on.
I am sure I am not the only one considering this and apologies if it has been covered before.
quiet fancy it on my 450.

Google is your friend, all questions have been answered on previous threads, however once you start modifying it's how big your wallet and what are you trying to achieve ?,
To be honest you should ask sc power as they are the ones selling the kit.

I hope one of the advantages of sc would be you can run a cam with less overlap and so suffer less shunting with a sensible increase in power. Sc needs less overlap anyway to stop blow through, where the pressure of the sc blows the fuel and air out of the exhaust valve during induction.
I would expect a remap is the very least you would need after fitting the kit. How much power is it making at the moment, wheel hp?
If its about the average then the engine can't be in very bad health re compression test and cam wear.
IMHO of course.

Saw a 450 chim turbo conversion at Back Home event - install was quality, sounded awesome and the dyno graphs were out of this world. Around 450bhp. Conversion if I remember was about 3.5k
He does run at 11psi which seems high for a stock CR motor tome but he reckons it's OK when mapped properly with Megaquirt system and suitable retard...

I started a thread recently on a similar subject (also for a 450) and got a lot of info, mostly useful so you might want to have a look at it "turbo v supercharging". If your seriously looking at fitting some sort of Forced Induction (F.I.) system I'd be very interested ion comparing notes & findings etc. At the moment, after a fair bit of research I am back at pursuing the Supercharger route with SC Power but still need to refine my package. As a guide I suggest if you want to do it properly with all necessary ancillaries to support additional power you won't get any change out of £5k, and that's fitting it yourself ! Please let us know how you get on with your deliberations, if I can be of any help (although I haven't even ordered anything yet) please PM me.
