Caught part of this last night, up until the point where they said you can measure a dogs intelligence by seeing how quickly the dog can remove a sheet from over it's head when you throw one over.

Spent the next 30 minutes ignoring the TV and repeatedly throwing a sheet over the dogs head. Hilarious fun, and he enjoyed it too!

Both our dogs are quite intelligent (workers) and if you chuck a cloth over either one they both just stand there and don't move.

The puppy (cocker spaniel) once ran off with a bit of paper towel which went over her head. She ran, at full pelt, in to a wall. She yelped a bit then conituned to run around with the bit of paper towel.

Dogs are just stupid even clever ones smile

I got a dog intelligence test which said about how many seconds or minutes a dog can recall where a treat is hidden.

Our dogs know 2-3 days later ....

I saw something about a dog leading off it's front left or right paw, means its smarter/dumber.
Not sure if it was the same program, but they did a sample in potential hearing dogs.

You can train for this. Its called a memory retrieve. Training our spaniel for it at the moment.

No need. Our dogs don't forget, and they are LGDs so not quite as trainable per se as other pooches.

I'm enjoying it, however it did annoy me seeing Teg worry the sheep like she did. A tad irresponsible letting a dog do that to sheep. I just hope it doesn't give pet owners silly ideas to try it on walks.

It is on BBC iPlayer if you can access it. Dunno when repeated on terrestrial telly though.
