My heater control cable, on full 'cold', is out to length at the heater matrix.

The wire, at its full push, is slightly too thin; it bends rather than pushes the control valve fully shut - hence never getting cold air.

Does anyone know whether there is an alternative cable, a thicker one that won't give?

Thanks,

Rich

Some WD40 perhaps to lubricate the lever to make it easier to push and pull.

Can I suggest a squirt of WD40 to clear out any gunge and free up the mechanism but then a squirt of graphite grease to keep it lubricated? Similarly if some can be worked down the cable sheath then that might be of assistance.

The problem is not so much the knob moving, its what happens when the wire is pushed through fully; it goes all the way out, but does not have the strength to push the heater valve the last 5mm or so; the wire flexes and then bounces back, rather than push the valve all the way closed.

The valve is new, but this effect is no different than with the other valve.

So it strikes me that I need a stronger cable - anyone know where this comes from, and whether there are alternatives?

Thank you,

Rich
