Just came across these when searching the classifieds for what Ferrari i could get for under £30,000.
Never seen them before - they used to be the most expensive Ferrari you could buy at £170k!
Beautiful looking at first, then i questioned whether the extra length made them look a little un-ferrari-like, a little less special....but on balance actually I think it looks great.
V12 engine so maybe not as rev happy as a V8? but still sounds great.
Would be a novelty to have 4 seats too!
Doubtfull that i ever would, but what are running costs going to be like. My dad used to have a 348 tb and that was very expensive, even just keeping it as a weekend car.
I watched this video too - Richard hammond appearing and acting stranger than ever - an extremely boring video but shows the car quite well.

Rowan Atkinson did an article in CAR Magazine when he bought his. The wooden box with the strips of metal to choose the paint colour looked lovely. Atkinson said in the article that being asked for the cheque to pay for the car spoilt the occasion a liitle.
I think that Hammond review is getting on a bit. It's from his pre teeth whitening period.

The only problem I see with this car, and I think it's the same with the older Maserati Quattroportes, is that they are really looking very dated now. They may well be cracking cars to drive and I don't doubt that at all, but... while I'm not one who buys a car for the imagine, I'd like to park up and cast an eye over the sleek bodywork of whatever I'm driving.
I was very confused as to why he was seemingly referring to it as a current Ferrari, but then realised the video is 12 years old! Say what you like about Hammond, he's aged well!
Thing is you can get a DB9 for £27k now, much nicer for the money.

What's that clip from? Not Top Gear is it? Hammond was seemingly even more annoying 10 years ago.
Nope not Top Gear, some Men & Motors rubbish.Top Gear Ferrari 456 launch review here at the end of a Ferrari Special episode:

They were both penned by Pininfarina weren't they?
Yes, and both by the same guy; Lorenzo Ramaciottihttp://www.greencardesign.com/site/interviews/0018...
There was a rumour around at the time that Pininfarina approached Ferrari with the 406 Coupe design as an idea for a low-budget Ferrari model, but this has been flat-out denied by all parties.
The 406 Coupe is a beautiful car, just would be better if it had a version with a few extra cylinders and rear-wheel drive. Top-of-the-range model had a 3.0 litre V6 that had been tuned by Porsche, producing 210 HP by stock and easily moddable to take it closer to 250 HP.
The Ferrari 456 is pretty much my ideal Ferrari, in that it's a car with a cracking engine that you could still just about use every day. Apparently the rear seats are very usable.
