Air intake grills on 981 Cayman/Boxster??

Good evening PHers. Quick autumnal question for those familiar with the various Cayman/Boxster incarnations. Is it worth fitting grills on the air intakes on the front of 981’s to stop the collection of leaves and other rubbish behind the radiators and exchangers? It seems to me that Porsche may have changed the layout/design of the radiators on the Boxster/Caymen 981 compared to earlier models because I can see no way for leaves to get past the first radiator and cleaning would appear to be a simple job….or is it just me thats simple?

Anybody with any experience of Zunsport grills for the 981?

Had them on my 986 for many years and been fitted to the 981 now. Although I always cleared out the leaves and debris each spring to avoid damage to condensors etc. the rads are very vulnerable to stone damage,in fact after a couple of thousand miles drive to Italy, I removed a dozen or so from the rads that fortunately had not actually penetrated. My neighbour's Boxster was not so lucky he had to replace a stone damaged radiator recently. Notwithstanding the practical side I think they improve the appearance of the front particularly if black grills are fitted to basalt black car.
If you go ahead, next day delivery and easy to fit BUT do mask the bodywork first as instructed, to avoid any scratches.

my 981 cayman is making a weird noise from the passenger side fan, sounds like somthings stuck in it, but i cant see that far into it ! only had it since tuesday! its brand new!

The car should have a new car warranty. Use it. Take the car back where you bought it and get the noise source ID'd. Unlikely anything is caught. The fan's behind the A/C condenser and the radiator. The fan motor may have a noisy bearing or the fan blades may have come apart. (My 03 Turbo had the passenger side fan motor shaft snap. Just a clunk (maybe, I don't recall hearing it let go) and that was that.)

Before fitting grills on intakes on a new car, check with OPC as I have heard that they can invalidate Porsche warranty. illogical i know but it has happened!

Saw a similar post on Planet 9 and it turned out to be a bit of paper impinging on a fan?

Mine was making a ticking noise last week, I rang my local OPC and asked if I could take it for them to have a listen, I didn't really want to book it in in case it was nothing. Sod's law it was fine the day I was going to take it over and has been ever since, I think something must have become stuck somewhere and has freed itself?

Worrying! I have fitted the grills and they look good but invalidating the warranty would be a real p*sser. Will ring OPC and check but if all goes well they won't see the car for 2 years and they wouldn't be difficult to remove before the 1st service

bloody noise is gone now! im going on holiday on weds so was leaving it at gatwick airport valet for the week and was going to get porsche to collect and return etc, il see what its like tommorow.
