Pension annuities
Discussion
Oh Dear Oh Dear. Catastrophes with the bank.
I was due two monthly annuity payments from the Pru about mid-Sept. For years now the payments, originally from Royal London, have been regular, no problems. Suddenly we see from the bank statements, which 'er indoors keeps a sharp eye on, that the Sept payments have not gone in (£250 plus). Fortunately we are not living on the breadline so can afford to wait a bit.
Last Friday I got through to their call centre (Bonny Scotland thank goodness) and was told that the payments had been suspended, due to loss of contact, caused by a letter (probably one of the tax code jobbies) which had been returned undelivered. The agent apologised and promised to reinstate the payments and we would receive the money within five working days.
This morning I called again and spoke to a different agent. We went through the same thing over again, with the addition of thorough checks on the bank details, sort code etc. I then found that my telephone contacts were out of date, so when the problem first occurred they could not contact me (if they were trying lol) so everything is now correct. But there was no explanation as to why the problem was not sorted last week as promised. So another wait, though the agent today did not seem to think that we would have to wait another five working days. I wont hold my breath but will report developments.
Moral of the story - keep personal contact details with all providers up to date! - doh.
