I'm going to replace the headlight reflectors on my '97 Cerbera (original style).

I've heard that the only way to do this is to remove the light pods from the bodywork.

Has anyone done this, or have any advice?

Anyone had any problems doing this (step forward TVR_Slags_Bil)?

AND AS IF MY MAGIC!

I have had loads of trouble getting the pods off of fluffy! It seems as if the early cars, upto 1997 had the pods fixed to the car using sealant, and lots of it. The later cars had pods held in place with studs and a small amount of sealant. Both types are easy to remove and shouldn't present a problem.

However;

Fluffy has had a front end respray at sometime, even though the colour is meant to be impossible to match! When this was done they stuck the pods down with Epoxy adhesive and it wasnt going to budge. So in order for me to change the smashed lens in the pod I have had to write the pod off, getting it off the wing, get a new pod get it sprayed and fit this at the end of the week!

Oh such joy!

Where do you live? If you need a hand I dont mind chipping in!

Thanks for the offer of help! I fitted the new reflectors today, took about 6 hours in all.

In addition to jack, axle stands and tools, you'll need....

2xReflectors
1xTube of sealant
Assorted swear words
Plus gas or WD40
The hands of a tiny child

The covers are held on by 4 bonded-in bolts and wingnuts. These might come off easily, or they might not.

Once these are off its fairly straightforward to do.

I parked my car facing a wall and used black tape to mark where the headlight beams were before I started the job. I then adjusted the headlights to hit the tape marks on the wall. I'll see if this worked in about 2 hours time when I go out

I really wish someone would post pictures of these nuts. I've searched for these and can't find them.

Sorry, don't have a camera, but they were pretty obvious. I would guess if you can't see them, then maybe your covers are bonded on.

I broke one of my bonded in bolts away from the cover, so I guess some people may have just glued the thing back on with sealant.
