Anyone up for a Herts mountain bike ride?

Both sound good. I definitely fall into the fat gits category too. Or rather fat and out of practice...
Didn't know there was riding around Bishops Stortford. I'm close to Hertford Heath, so my usual ride is to start in the woods around there and then through to Broxbourne Woods. It's not especially hilly but there's plenty of decent singletrack there.
Would be up for tagging onto one of the local rides elsewhere, but also happy to show people round Broxbourne/Hertford Heath.

i used to go through Brouxbourne woods and in surrounding area a few years back, as you say mostly flat but there are a few tricky bits.
there isnt anything great in stortford, but there is a little bit in birchanger woods, a couple of bits on either side of stortford town centre, i reckon there is a 12 mile loop 50/50 roads and off road, although you could probably stay off road and the same sections a couple of times.
i stay in stortford rather than go to epping as i save 90 mins travel time

Well I should be up at Epping this coming Sunday, probably not start until about 11:00 ish if that's any good for you?

Another vote for Essex & Herts MTB.... I've ridden at Danbury a couple of times with them and they're a nice bunch, happy to wait for me wheezing along at the back

Saturday or Sunday is good for me, i like early start so i have the rest of the day available.
i have done epping loads of times, i think i must be stuck in a "rut" but usually do the same route so i could do with meeting up with someone new to find new "roots" lol
i went one sunday with an advanced group from Heales cycles, i am still recovering!!

We've hatched a plan meet at Hertford Heath on Saturday morning and head over to Broxbourne via the local trails.
Drop me a PM if anyone else fancies coming along. There's a reasonable amount of quiet singletrack for what's basically just the local woods.
It would be good to do Epping at some stage in the future, but I'm a bit short on time this weekend. Might need to get my rear mech looked at before that too.

What time-wise? It's only because I can ride to Hertford Heath in about five minutes, while Epping is half an hour each way in the car. I am keen to try it. I hear it doesn't get quite as waterlogged as Broxbourne?
