Rear Foglights on my S3

MOT on Tuesday and on checking lights etc find the rear fogs are not coming on . I assume as no light on the Switch the problem is there . How do I remove and check , any guides gratefully received .

Guy, I would initialy check the bulbs and then the connections on the light cluster, the connections may just need a clean up.

Most likely the switch or fuse.

When I had this problem I had a look at the wiring diagram and the rear foglights pick up a feed from the light switch on the column. My problem was the light switch.. If I remember rightly it was a blue wire which feeds the foglight switch. Have a good look at the wiring diagram to check I am away at mo so cant check for sure....hope this helps. Check for love feed at fog switch..

I am pretty sure the switch is the problem as the light on the switch is not ,therefore need to check wiring etc .any tips on getting to the switch, possibly via radio hole ? Or removel of the console ?

Remoove the radio first then just undo the two screws on the sides of the rear of the console and lift the whole thing up and slide back. Then you'll be able to get to the back of the switch very easily. Quite tricky jamming all the wiring back in and reconnecting the air pipes but you'll get the hang of it.

The switch plate is held in place by 4 nuts (one in each corner). You will have to remove these first ( I suggest a flexible ratchet) then lift the switch plate cover off. This will give you access to the switches which are located in a similar steel plate underneath. They can now be removed from this plate and the wiring disconnected as necessary.

None of my switches worked when I got the car, managed to clean two with carburettor cleaner and cotton buds, but had to replace the Heater fan switch.

Once you've done it once, it is much easier the second time!!

I Araldited nuts onto the back of the fibreglass moulding, drilled out the old studs and then used black hex bolts to put the switch panel back together. It is a lot lot easier to remove things later if/when you need to. Doesn't look too bad either.
