I've had an Elise (S1 and S2) as my every day car and the Griff for the other days. The Elise is less physical at low/traffic speeds than the Griff and less agricultural. On the edge it is a more rewarding and fun car, very precise with a decent set-up and a hoot to drive.
Getting out of an Elise and into a Griff, is an experience, you have to adapt your driving style and you can really feel the weight of the car and it doesn't feel as sure footed being thrown into a corner, you're left feeling like you're driving a bit of a bus. Especially what with being higher up and considerably more comfortable (unless you have Probax Seats).
Going the other way and you're just left waiting for the power to arrive, and the noise. There is very little drama with an Elise, and it goes from nice and easy to frantic quite quickly. The Griff is like it's power delivery, it just builds.
The Elise felt better more sensible speeds, but the Griff just has more. Best to do the sensible thing and go for both!
I kept the Griff.
Add: I seem to recall a MGBV8 vs Chimera review somewhere..??
