Ok, I ask here on SPL 'cos it isn't public access unless you're a member.

My question is this: how do I tactfully ask a public question that may not be "PC" without offending anyone, or breaking any laws?

I have some observations I would like to share, and don't wish to cause Ted or PH any problems!

A few months ago Ted made the SP&L forum members only. The rest of the site remains public viewing though.

I'll cut to the issue! I noticed when driving in London that certain people seemed incapable of driving safely, considerately, or with any skill or regards to the law...

I won't name the ethnic grouping, but I was really disturbed to note that repeatedly the same "people" cut me up or nearly crashed into me.

I'm afraid of being called racist if I discuss the matter publically, but wanted to know if anyone else had experience of similar? I suspect that they are illegal immigrants with not tax/insurance, but WTF is going on? too few BiB out there I think.. but hey, they'd get accused of racism too.

Open & free thinking seems to be outlawed these days.

There is absolutely nothing racist about bringing to attention a serious problem on the roads.
If it happens to be caused by a group of people entering the country, on some occasions illegally, then their ethnic origin is immaterial.
They are either driving correctly and legally or nay.
The fact that they may be black, white, grey or tartan has no bearing on the legality!
I think the single worst aspect of it is the lack of Traffic Police to deal with it.

Nothing wrong in open thinking Herts....

You are saying that a certain ethnicity are driving in a bad way, and point out that they are possibly driving illegally.

following recent news articles I can understand your reactions.

If someone came to me, with information then I would happily follow it up. After all, different ethnic groups should not differ in their driving skill if a correct test has been taken.

You are drawn to the fact that you assume they are illegally driving, by showing a lack of skill which would indicate a lack of test passing.

Not racially motivated in my view, but skill related.

Plus, we all know how easy it is to buy a car in the auction for £10. Drive it away sir.....

Just noticed Iolaire and I share similar views on this subject

Yes Carl. Its asians youre referring to i believe.
These people are in the main, dire when it comes to obeying traffic rules.
Now, UN-Pc/racist or whatever, label away, (not like itll bother me! :hehe) it is unfortunately a fact that theyre bad drivers, and asian taxi drivers in particular are the absolute pits.
I have lost count of the numbers of these muppets who openly flout 1 way restrictions, parking rules, Usage of Horn rules to mention a few...the list is exhaustive.
I dont know whether its just the way they are or whether they even have a bloody licence. Certainly some of them (lots) shouldnt.
Ive seen with my very own eyes one inparticular in my area, cut some up by overtaking them from the outside approach of an island, swerve back over half way around and take the first exit from the lane closest to the island, and then goad the driver he'd just chopped off, all while his passengers were being carried.

If id have been a little faster off the mark, id have taken his number and reported him to both the council and the plods (pity) but id bet a pound to a pinch of shit that he probably was unlicenced anyway.

To back this up Mike, I have noticed recently a few second hand car ads on e-bay where the sellers will not release the vehicle to the buyers without ID and a current insurance certificate.
There is of course, no legal obligation on them to do this, but it shows people do have a social conscience and recognise that this is a real problem.

Just to add weight my girlfriends dad (who is BIB) was recently crashed into by an un taxed un insured and un licensed Gujerati man who proceded to stammer uncontrollably when met by my girlfriends dad and his 3 bib mates when they confronted him.

To add further weight to your observation.. A few years ago I visited several warehouses in Hayes and couldn't help but notice that of the workers cars in the carpark - only about 5% had a valid tax disc.. (some had run out over a year before).. no tax likely meant no insurance.. and likely no MOT.. now if you want to catch them then this would seem the easiest place to do it... and when you consider that industrial estates can park several hundred cars surely it would be worth persuing.. or is there some numpty law that stops the Police from exercising this right due to violation of privacy...

i lived in that area most of my life seamus......tell me something i havnt noticed...that and the large amount of rusty old nissan's/toyota's/sierra's with no brake lights that beltch out black/blue smoke that seem to get through mot's every year......well,the vin numbers, previous mot expiry dates and mileages do anyway.......price of a dodgy mot in hayes/southall/greenford/yeading is about £30-50,depending on who you know.

i dont suppose these 'warehouses' were off pump lane by any chance?,or was it near hayes football club?

HB.... I had a very similar question an made the mistake of posting on GG. What a mistake! A bunch of self righteous PC w@nkers took it upon themselves to portray me a baby munching right wing satanist!

If you fancy a laugh, go here to view

I was especially proud of telling one of them to "go yourself"...NOT, but thats the point to which they wound me up.
