Afternoon all,

I have not long ago had a lot of work done (Engine/suspension/clutch/Brakes) by arguably the best TVR chap in the country. Since having the car back, it feels like a completely different machine.

The problem I am having is that the indicator/reversing light/brake light fuse keeps blowing.

Yesterday I thought I had found the problem - by turning both hot and cold fans off, everything seemed to work as it should.

But after setting off on a blast this afternoon, the thing blew again.

I can't seem to get it to blow on command now after fiddling with the heaters.

My question is this: does anyone have any idea what might be going on here, has anyone experienced anything similar? To me, it stinks of a bad earth somewhere, but I cannot see anything missing.

It is not helping with my decision whether to move the car on (lack of garage) or whether to keep and treat to a body off chassis refurb over the next winter or two....

my lighting glitches have all been down to the lighting ecu boxes and wiring on top of the fuel tank so a good place to start by checking them. A fuse blows due to it having too much current drawn through it so it is more than likely something is shorting out and the fuse it blowing to protect the circuit. On your drive when did it happen, whilst pressing the brake pedal, going over a bump to try and narrow it down. Having not looked at the wiring diagram or fuse layout recently I can not remember but normally brake lights are fused separately as are indicators but then it is a TVR!

I'm guessing you've tried all Three to see if it's one of those that caused the fuse to blow.

I know a faulty lamp (bulb)can cause them to pop. Worth a look inside the fittings as well, to see if any water has got in & corroding.

Thank you both for your replies,

I cannot regularly get it to blow,I have tried loading up the whole electrical system, foot on brake, in reverse and indicating, and it behaves itself.

Everything was working earlier for 20mins or so earlier today, then it popped when I was driving.

As far as I can tell, the brake lights, reversing light and indicators are fused together on a single 25A fuse. The hazards are seperate.

I have taken all of the bulbs out,and inspected the circuitry inside the rear lamp clusters and all looks well.

I am at a loss how to test the lighting boxes on top of the tank, as I don't known or understand fully their function.

I had the same problem.

I spent time messing with wiring in boot to rear lights. I am sure I had a short circuit somewhere.

I have the same problem it was the reverse sensor wire to the gearbox it run past the exhaust manifold The heat cooks the wire cause It To crack and short out on the protective heat shielding which is tied up to the chassé. You can unplug the sensor from the wireing lum if it doesn't blow found your faults
