Just got another car and need to transfer a plate over to it, am going to dvla office tomorrow.

Do you still need an actual MOT cert in hand?
I didn't get a certificate with the car, owner couldn't find it, it is mot'd

Can I transfer it over without this cert, I have just printed out the info explaining MOT info from DVLA site, would this do?

I did a transfer a while ago from an MOT failure.
There wasn't a need for the car to be MOT'd, it was purely so they could get the MOT cert changed to the old/new reg number.

Take the V5 to an MOT Test centre, hand them a tenner, they re-print one for you. If there are any issues, VOSA will give you the test number which will give the MOTer everything he needs.

How do I know all this? I am in exactly the same position as you, but the plate is coming off to be given to the old owner. The MOT cert was lost in the post.
