I am in London overnight tomorrow for work, staying by Waterloo station. Whilst I have family on the outskirts, it's not convenient to get over to them and whilst I could get hold of the people I will be working with the next day, I don't fancy a late one (I won't even get there until about 8pm) and to be honest I've left it a bit late. My colleagues won't be arriving until the next morning.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a quiet drinking hole or things to do please? I'm looking for places that don't involve going anywhere too far, and where one person on their own won't look like a numpty.

As luck would have it, there'a a Parov Stelar gig on the tuesday night, by which time I will have fled the capital - if only it had been a day earlier, I'd have been made!

You sound like a lot of fun.

Why not just take a walk and chance your arm in a few decent looking bars and a restaurant in the vicinity?

decent bar and food with drink ordered a bit differently aka pull it from your own pump on your own table/custom drinks via ipads in the tables etc. - i was drinking in there for an hour by my todd (waiting for late friends) without any issue or insecurity

Thanks I'll take a look.

I used to live in Borough 20 years ago and this whole area used to be a complete dive. Looking a lot better nowadays

If you like (or want to try) good Turkish food, then try Tas, or it's sister restaurant, Ev, both very close to Waterloo; http://www.tasrestaurants.co.uk/thecut.html
Oh yes.

The Tas looked really good but unfortunately I left it too late. I ended up in Sino Thai and am now in some kind of student bar called the Walrus. Shocked at how shiny and clean everything is. Where is cardboard city?
