Evening all.
Hoping to sell one of our cars within the next few weeks, and applying to retain the present cars plate to put on the replacement car.

Want to do it the proper way and wait to get the V5 back and tax disc and then put the original (hopefully) plates back on , then advertise it.

We have not done this for a couple of years and under the old system you just rolled up to our local (Preston) dvla office and it was done, now it all happens by post.

How long does the new process take in peoples experience as on the website it can take up to 6 weeks ! and as of course once our minds made up to sell it we want it to happen quickly.

Mine took 7 days to get tax disc and MOT.

Another week for V5

In between those a retention document and authorisation for the old reg to be made up. (Just put old plates back on.)

Then you have to change the reg with insurance, finance(if any), and for me company fuel card.

All round balls ache!

This was a couple of weeks ago. like you I have previously used the local offices, as nervous about sending off all those original documents.
