Hi All

Had this issue for a little while now.

When I release the clutch I get a clicking feeling/noise as the pedal releases, it seems to be towards the end of the pedal travel, when the actual clutch has been released, but the pedal still has a little way to travel before you take your foot off it. I only get this when the car is hot, the hotter the car the more appartent the click. By hot I mean fan has kicked in and out a couple of times so a build up of heat.

I've already had a look, greased and even replaced the clevis pin at the pedal end. Since I've had the clicking I've also replaced (for a different reason) the clutch master cylinder. Neither of these have made any difference.

Its the newer version with the T5 gearbox.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

Can't see why the temp would make a difference but one possibility is the shaft is adjusted too far into the clevice and the end of the rod is now catching the back of the pedal.

I agree it does seem strange that the problem is only evident when everything is hot.

Nothing is catching at the pedal end.

I'm wondering (but hoping this isn't the case) that something inside the bell housing is causing the issue.

I'm thinking I may have to take the gearbox out to have a proper look at things.

How much can you get to just through the inspection hole? Is it possible to get the fork arm out to have a look?

Have had the very same problem. Got John at Sussex TVR to grease the point where the clutch slave cylinder pushrod meets the clutch fork. He thought he hadn't fixed the problem but about ten presses later it disappeared along with the slight groaning that accompanied the clicking. Try it and see....

Thanks, just the type of pointer I was after. I'll take a look and give it a go.

It is possible but will drive you insane. You also need small hands.
I've not been able to do it but Richard can.

If you've not fixed it yet and don't laugh - but check if you have a rubber cover boot on the inside of the footwell thats sliding in and out of a groove on the master cylinder pushrod. thats what was doing mine. blooming infuriating!

A bit of grease proves it - but not for long. I drilled my boot/ grommet out a bit!

Fancy giving me excellent brakes!

Seems a common issue... Got the same with mine, although not noticing any difference with the engine temps.

I had a clicking and it turned out being the Spring in the master cylinder broken into about 5 pieces. I replaced it with a new one and all is well, I just have a squeak now, but better than a failure.
This is the kit I bought

I should stop reading these threads. Read this yesterday and I've got the same noise - and only when everything's hot. How weird is that? Master cylinder is less than a year old so the spring 'should' be ok. I like the grease idea!
