Tired of tyre kicking shows!? I'd rather have been driving!

I've done it before myself. I spent months organising a big TVRCC event, had a poor turn out and then wished I'd just been out all day in the car I love to drive with like minded people. I could have done without all the stress!!
This has got me thinking. Shouldn't an "event" be predominately about driving the cars? If driving is what its all about then shouldn't one drive the best roads that can be found? ....Preferably ending at a great place to eat, drink and unwind? And isn't variety the spice of life? Why should such fun be constrained to one make/model of car?
This is the conversation I've been having with friends recently. I wondered, has anyone else had the same thoughts? I'm going to organise a low key thing of this nature next spring/early summer for a few friends and my wife and I. Just a long weekend. Not too expensive, but with a few luxuries and great food & drink
Any thoughts/ideas?

OK the motorways there (and back) aren't much to shout about but the reward at the end is epic! Plus the local food and beer is good!

There's a market for both. I'm quite impulsive and drive the TVR whenever I want, however I want and wherever I want. I've only got 1000 miles left on my 5k insurance policy to last me until the end of January. I enjoy meeting the TVRCC guys but have avoiding spending/wasting a couple of hundred miles following other people on a random route. Nothing wrong with the route, but I'd enjoy it much more without everyone else there.
I realise there are people in either (or both) camps though, so best of luck with this
P.S. I've not much interest in any-make meets. I've got no patience for morons and the first highly original reliability remark from some boring car owner would wear my painted on smile thin quickly. I'm not a very good petrolhead - most cars bore me and I have no interest in seeing them or talking about them.

That was my first though. I still haven't been there and it's fairly accessible. Any ideas on food places to stay?!As for places to stay I can't really make any recommendations but there is a travelodge I think as you drive in to Betws.
Also there are loads more great roads around the area. Keep us informed and a few of us may join you for the run!

You work out travelling options, offer some hotel options and give the appropriate tel. nos.
(Interested) People can then sort it out themselves.
Saves on all those stomach ulcers and you are guaranteed that the people who do turn up are enthusiasts.
