Loose door...

My passenger door dropped a little a couple of weeks back. I didn't think too much of it and put it down for one of those winter jobs. When I returned to the car yesterday, the door almost came off (fortunately, I was supporting it at the time). It would appear that the top bolt holding the door has worked itself loose and then finally dropped through.

I'm gathering that this is a door card off job and that the bolt has landed inside the door? Or, is it possible to do it with just the speaker removed? Also, I read the Steve Heath section which discusses the use of spacers when adjusting the doors etc. Am I likely to need anything special got sort the re-alignment out?

Is the door hinge that different from a Griffith? I ask as the hinge is all in front of the door on the Griffith and as such you don't need to take the door card off to get at it.

I haven't seen a Grif door David. But a quick look yesterday reveals a mounting point right at the pivot of the top of door. This where it has come away, so I was assuming that the bolt came through the inside of the door, through the top and into the hinge?

I am pretty sure that there is supposed to be 3 bolts on the hinges to allow for adjustment.

You should be able to just screw it back in and not touch the adjusters.

Bump.
Very nearly a proper laurel and hardy type bump.
Top door hinge 17mm pivot bolt almost escaped - I think I just caught it after experiencing a drooping feeling on opening...question for those who've been there before - how far do I tighten it?
And is locktite what tvr used when they built 'em?

Right, scrub last message - tightened up ok, I was expecting it to have a bearing on door height, but I don't think that's the case.
Easy access through speaker hole.
Found a small tube of no-name threadlock so chucked a bit of that on the top of the thread as well, I'll keep an eye on it to see if it attempts to escape again.
Last time I had a TVR I didn't have internet in the garage - this iPad is ace

You have to tighten it until it locks up otherwise it will slowly unwind again.

Posted same time as me - yep think it's nipped up ok, and the threadlock should hopefully help. Ta
