Is that an official cgi picture or one that Autocar made up itself?

Given how low it is, lack of space for a number plate, etc. I am leaning towards the autocar photoshop option.

Would seem to be official as Caterham F1 Team have tweeted the same picture.

Oh dear, I sincerely hope the front end doesn't look like that, it appears sad and broken.

Meanwhile, the Alpine version looks fantastic.

They've given it a RT, but I would suggest that's an autocar photoshop.

2016 is too far away for this kind of crap, if they don't live up to the hype it'll get panned the same way the mclaren did.

For your Scalextric set maybe as the proportions are about right for that.

Where are the drivers legs meant to go given the position of the front wheels plus the allowance for them to turn?

The "Alpine version" is a several-year old concept/homage for the A110.

I suspect the white car is Autocar's render, which they tend to do quite a bit

Similar thought here. Looks like a toy.

I remember years ago when they 'relaunched', Autocar made a big song and dance about never using an 'artists impression' of upcoming cars - their deadly rival autoexpress was filled with them at the time.

A brief period of time passed and that rule was soon ignored. Presumably due to sales dropping as a result.

Normally I'd shy away from Autocar renders but given Caterham F1 re tweeted it seemed to give it some credence.

Yes I'm aware of the history of the Alpine design, hence curious as to why Caterham have ruined it (if indeed it's an official render) by incongruously trying to squeeze on a World Sportscar style front end; I would have expected them to share the design of the Alpine, much like the Toyota/Subaru GT86/BRZ.

I doubt it's an official render - there was nothing on Caterham's website last night about it. However, I thought Caterham had made it clear their version of the car would look different to the Alpine version. I just doubt this is it!

I hope so; the 21, whilst not beautiful, was at least a reasonably well resolved and cohesive design.

This new crop of lightweight 2-seaters is rather exciting. People are becoming tired of reading about all the massive HP supercars as they're inaccessible to most. These small, light, simple and affordable solutions are very attractive propositions for the real world, but they still need to look great. It's important to open up the garage door and want to drive what you see.
