Sunday Service 13/10: Porsche Silverstone

Ready for another? The relentless Sunday Service wheel keeps turning

We've been spoiling you of late. Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce and now we head to Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone on Sunday October 13 for our annual visit to celebrate our favourite Stuttgart product.

We've even scoped out a good route to get there!
We've even scoped out a good route to get there!
For those of you who have been before the venue needs no introduction, but for newcomers you are in for a treat as not only is the experience centre within the grounds of the Silverstone circuit  it also has it’s own wet handling area, off-road course and all of the latest Porsche models on display. PH will be arriving suitably equipped too...

PH member cars will be parked around the main Porsche circuit which is an experience in itself, but in addition you can watch demonstration drives from Porsche drivers in the new Boxster and 911 and can also take Panamera passenger rides too for a small donation to charity. Sedate they are not.

Not familiar with the format of a Sunday Service? It's simple: all you need to do is sign up to be guaranteed a space, tell the PH staff on the gate who you are and we allow you in and tell you where to park. From there you're on your own, but we recommend that you look at the 500 PHers' cars, purchase some breakfast, sign up for a passenger ride and wander around the exhibits laid on by our hosts. Gates open at 09.00 and we'll close the event at 13.00 as usual.

Sign up here to claim one of the 500 spaces available.

Thanks to Porsche for allowing us to return and we look forward to seeing some of you there.

Directions available here or you can follow our own Dream Drive route!

Wow - 2 SS's in as many weeks, and two great locations. RR last weekend and Silverstone on the 13th. Well done PH team.

Great. Couldn't make it last year so this will be my first one. Will drag the old girl out for a blast.

Looking forward to this one, missed the last one due to holidays,

I do have one complaint though, although last Sundays service was a great day, I was slightly, disappointed by the advertisement of 100 spaces in the RR courtyard to the "fist come first served" , I got up extra early to grab one of those places and when the fleet of cars started to make there way into the courtyard I was promptly marshalled round to the open car park, and I was clearly not even car 50 at that point.

It seemed the first come first serve basis was actually based on what car you have and not what time you turned up!!!

I was slightly appeased when I spotted the single car park spots around the perimeter of the car park which I slotted into nicely, but PH please don't advertise these first come first serve areas if all your looking for is ultra special cars!!

Not to detract from the day as we had a good time!!

Ah, you missed my post on the RR thread.

I agree! PH parking decisions were overruled (without our consultation) on the day by RR marshals while we were over in Stane Street. It was far from ideal and, I assure you, an isolated incident. I felt the same pain as you as the helpless event organiser.

With the Panamera charity rides, will Porsche have in place a children's age/height rule? Would be useful to know in advance so as not to build the little blighter's hopes up.

Hopefully the catering will be a little better and vfm than last time.
(And at least served with a smile when they fleece you!)

Finally a Sunday service that I'm not working!

Are they any convoys setting off from Guildford cathedral like the old days?

Can you take your own car on the handling circuit/low grip circuit or do you have to hire one of the Centre's?

Any idea what both those options will cost on the day?

Was just about to sign up then realised that's the weekend we are up in Scotland for the Mull rally.

Would have love to come along, shame I am otherwise booked.

Have a good day out guys!

No driving, just passenger rides as in previous years. You can passenger in a Panamera and the others are demonstrations you watch as a spectator.

Will check costs, no restrictions that I'm aware of

Damn, if my 944 wasn't currently SORN'd then I'd be there. Wouldn't be quite so special in a ropey Golf or a Passat.
