Is it correct that some Remote Key Fobs record mileage and times of last Locking/Unlocking event ?

Do they record anything else ?

Keen to hear more about that... sounds interesting.

Might try and catch it on iPlayer.

(I assume its someone trying to clock their lease car to cover some over-mileage?)

School Headteacher had gone massively over on his annual mileage... decided it would be better if he torched the car to say it had been stolen and then burnt out so he wouldn't have to pay the excess mileage charges...

SOCO identified that the car hadn't been broken in to due to lack of damage to bodywork, locks and door frames and especially where the glass had melted i.e. still in place in the doors and not inside the car.

They used the key to identify that the guy's story didn't match up with timings etc that had been stored on the key in regards to opening, driving and locking the car...

Happened to me when I took my old bmw to the dealers for servicing. I picked up the spare key by mistake and as it hadnt been used for a while was showing a completely different mileage to the odometer. Got a phone call from them asking me to explain the discrepancy!
