Life Fitness exercise bikes. Any experience?
Discussion
I have been tasked to order one for our ship, money is no object, within reason. There seems to be a whole variety of them, but we want one that is basically a 'bicycle' type machine, not some lunar rover type device with an armchair for a seat.
The website is without prices, so hard to compare what is their 'top quality commercial grade' with some economy model. basically, we want this bike to perform, and to last for a few years.
Anybody have any experience with these?

Wow, some wild and varied prices there for their bikes.
I finally found a place here in the USA that had prices on it, as the Life Fitness web page is pretty naff and slow.
I've finally decided on this baby below, a basic bike, good solid commercial grade, yet not buried under acres of plastic and detritus like cup holders and iPod docking stations. Hopefully it will deliver the goods. Price is $2000 in the USA, including the optional cycling computer.

Just got to send the details to purchasing, and see if they shoot me down......

Thats a spin bike and quite a bit different to the 'normal' Lifecycles.
On that one you have to change the resistance yourself via the red lever below the handlebars. They are good but you don't have things like random settings or hill profiles where the bike changes resistance for you automatically which you do get on the other Lifecycles.

Hmmm, I never realised that actually. But I think the guys here who really use the bike are more interested in serious 'spinning' rather than anything fancy, but nobody else seems to have done anything about ordering one, so tough luck if they don't like it. ps. I'm on a ship in the Gulf of Mexico, so it has to be ordered in via our agent.
