Big power performance figures
Discussion
I'd be interested to know if any of the guys out there with big horsepower have ever accurately measured 0-60, 1/4 mile and top speed figures? I know it's about more than drag racing, but I'm just curious as to how much these figures change in relation to the money spent on the power.
Also without causing a willy waving war who reckons there car is the quickest in a straight line? last I heard Adrian was the king of that one. But now that there are quite a few running high powered engines it would certainly make for an awesome spectacle. Sorry for the hijack bernhund but was intrigued to know.

No worries mate, I'd be interested in that too! I remember watching the video of Adrian's car being driven by Chris Harris and it was very impressive. For those relatively new to the forum it's here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9izNwvkXQokWell until a race is done it will all be unproven although I did see Adrian beaten by a 450bhp noble ;-)
I've been in a few cars with over 600bhp and they are simply ballistic, the fastest would be the one who got off the line the best
What I will say is my current setup is significantly faster than when I was running 626bhp... Top speeds going to be gear limited on all of them, I rev to 7950rpm but did see 8100rpm on my logging at silverstone lol

I was once told that once you take a Noble over 500bhp it gets no better. In fact, putting the power down becomes very difficult.
Personally I'd rather go for a lap time than a 1/4 mile time, l have official standing start times but irrelevant to your question as it was using a 500 bhp / 450 llb engine. As for getting the power down very much depends on the car in terms of mapping, suspension / geometry, tyres etc etc, some circuits l can be just as fast using 500 where as others can use every single last little pony.
For road use with good all weather road tyres 500 is more than enough & if you can truly use all of it other than a squirt on the straight in the dry then you need to get a race suit

Would be interesting to see who gets the bragging rights in a straight line as this puts the performance on car power not who holds it in a corner chances are a car with a smaller turbo And standard rear wing will be up there as less lag and drag while pushing through the air
Once spinning my turbo has no lag through the gears at all, it's almost like having a large v8... The large twins are much the same and will outperformed the little turbos in this respect... It will be all about traction, and some of us will have or already have launch control and full throttle shifts etc.The last 2 years have really moved the game on in the noble world.

Perhaps, Jetstream could organise a day next year for a Noble only shootout on their track/runway a like the annual Ten Of The Best event.
3 discipline's:
1. 1 mile blast
2. 1/4 mile sprint
3. Circuit
At least with that lot like TOTB each discipline would have a winner then all three disciplines combined would have an outright winner. Maybe get the factory to bring an M600 to compare their beast.
I'd be up for that no question plus the three disciplines tick all the boxes in terms of all round performance & not solely reliant on track skills etc.

Great idea but Matt & Dave will have to be banned 3 discipline's:

On my old T28 turbos, so around 530 bhp I have seen.....
1/4 mile in 10.5 @ 130 at North Weald lined up beside Grant...(launching off concrete so no grip)
30 to 130 in 9.8 secs uphill at RAF Marham GPS verified, then went on to 185.5 on their runway before
running out of room... the times would be a lot different now on the new GT28 RS turbos I think...

Like most/all of the 600+ cars mine has two boost levels.Low boost gives 505bhp with torque of about 450 and high is 612bhp and torque of about 550.
The difference between the 2 is immense and taking it over 500bhp certainly makes it better

True, it does make it more difficult to put the full power down in some circumstances - but that's what the 2 levels are for

They both could be chief timers....This all sounds very interesting though. I do love a bit of competition*
*OK, fine, I'm so competitive that I often annoy and scare my friends. In equal measures.
