I have a fault code showing on a Peugeot 207 1.4 Petrol. It states cylinder number 2 is misfiring. Simple question to many, which is number 2 cylinder?

Thanks

On a straight engine should be the second from the front of the engine. (The gearbox is at the rear of the engine - whether its an inline or transverse engine)

Pugs are a bit strange, and are numbered (as I understand it) from the flywheel end. (Hence number 2 is 3rd from the left) - hey, why make things simple when they can be made complicated.

It's French. There really is no way to tell from what any fault code reader might tell you.

Pretty easy to check, just pull the coil packs off one at a time, then see which cylinder it reports as misfiring!

cylinder 2 is 2nd from the gearbox end on the PSA stuff, and renaults for whatever reason rolleyes

Coil packs are a fairly common thing, usually on the older TU engines if they still use them in the 207?

Aren't they a dis pack like the 1100's?

Swap no 2 coil over and see where the fault moves to if it's on individual coils

Thanks for the advice. Are coil problems usually intermittent?

The injectors don't have a good reputation - the resistance of the injector should be a couple of ohms either hot or cold - look out for one that's in the hundreds on a hot engine. That and swapping the coils (if possible) should eliminate the most obvious.
