Brembo 4 Pot Calipers under 15" rims...

Have you considered running the standard discs with better pads? Spend the difference on something more interesting?
I'll be honest - I don't need "better" ... just like the look of the Brembos rather than the pig ugly 888/887 calipers and the pads on my 888/887 calipers are wearing a bit oddly.
(And no - I don't want any links to fake Brembo caliper covers thankyou...)
Just bought a new set of rear calipers as some nice person wrote me a note saying that they were seized and must have done so immediately after my MOT ... thankfully they were free enough at the time of the MOT itself to get through...

(Similarly, someone's subsequently knocked my headlight aim out too - N/S is too high, O/S is too low but of course I am hoping to stick in the Lupo lights so I won't bother trying to adjust all that rusted up stuff and my horn push is fecked as well - which coincidentally I have all the bits to replace the contact ring etc on the steering column already ... so handy that all of those things happened after the MOT and not before.

won't fit under 15" but this is what you need

Yeah - seen those but I really want to get something fitting under the standard rims as I like the standard 15"/16" setup ... I know that WMS do a set that will fit but they're pretty expensive ...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cosworth-2-wheel-drive-B...
I agree that the standard brakes look silly - you get bigger discs on a Freaklander, for heaven's sake!
Thing is, the standard ventilated discs are actually pretty good and fine for the road, and I only upgraded the pads to avoid track day fade. Any more bite and I will be straight into lock up. As it is, with DS2500 pads I can now lock up the brakes in the dry on Toyo 888s and standard discs.

Yup - absolutely - I was just in a "Feck it - My front discs and pads are just wearing unevenly and fancied doing something about it "simply because it looks nice" as I don't do that very often - mine's a workaday biatch! (Although I could possibly try to convince myself that a set of four pots would make it easier to modulate braking effort when on the road and allow more confidence before locking up? )I do have a spare set of pads in "the box" that I can use. I guess I should just get a new set of discs and throw the new pads and discs on and be done with it ... what are the 278mm discs and 888/887 pads actually from - 2WD Sierra Cossie?

What are you going to do with the over size holes drilled for the 887 888 install ?

The 278mm discs were you used on the Sierra Cosworth 4x4 (283 mm on the 2wd Cossie) and the 888/887 were used on the Cosworth Scorpio among others.

You're right about progressiveness ( if that's a word) up to lock up, that was the most noticeable thing when going from 240mm discs on mine to the 283mm. It also improved braking balance making the rears less less likely to step out under hard braking.

I thought I'd use them for mounting another set of calipers if I can get them to fit ... Why? Do you have any alternative suggestions?

The holes are now larger than they should be .Phil
