My car has today failed MOT for two items

1) Headlight bulbs not matching, ie allegedly one is a different colour. One is claimed to be white, and the other one yellow

2) PDA Holder or Road Angel suction holder mounted in view of the windscreen wipers, but not affecting field of vision as is in bottom of windscreen on drivers side. They say it can't obstruct the field of wipers.

Is the MOT testing station taking the mickey or what ?

I get 33% discount off the testing fee, and wondered if this is their way of getting back the money. It seems like a piss take, as I have never had a problem before with this car. ( Audi A4)

Headlamp bulbs must be balanced ie both white or both yellow.

If it obstructs the field of view or is in the swept area then yeah it could fail, why not just remove the holder when it is tested??

I asked them to remove the holder when they phoned me up, and to correct the bulbs.

It just seems so petty.
What harm is it going to do anyone?

Trouble is that if they let it go then they themselves can be fined or removal of their testing license. The MOT do have people going in with minor defects to see if they are picked up by the testers.

Did they not offer a free restest? because i think those items meant just the failed items can be checked and not a full retest.
