350SE No.20. (Info Please) ???
Discussion
Has anyone got any information on the Wedge 350SE Number 20? Has anyone on this forum ever owned it or know anyone who has? The few things I know about it is that it's grey in colour and that it is a genuine No.20 as it comes with the original bill of sale and tons of history. Rumour has it that out of the 25 factory 350SE's made, only no.20 was fitted with a big valve cylinder head from new. Is this true? as it's mentioned on Wiki. If it is , that makes this car very rare? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Mr. Tank I think is an expert on 350SE's, so if your reading this Mr. Tank and have any info, please get in touch or give some kind of signal to point me in the right direction.

I have had a chat with Mr. Tank and he has given me some useful and interesting information about the car. Are there any previous owners maybe? or someone who knew any of the previous owners. The car actually comes with a load of history but chatting with any previous owners would be a bonus.

Hi, I have number 12 of the 350se. On digging about I found out The engines in all 25 were the same, factory 3.9 (known later as the 400) they all have big valve, high lift cam, ported, blue printed, and cosworth pistons to up the compression ratio. They were commissioned by a company called NCK of Birmingham to which TVR later brought out, the power is supposed to be 279 bhp, but as ever I've yet to find anyone who has placed one on a dyno. I've opened mine up for inspection, and would say " it looks" like this is true of the spec, I will dyno this engine next year, and give some results. If number 20 has the correct engine, the numbers should say A40, which stands for 4.0 ( Tvr number on the 3.9 that is not a bored out 3.5)) then the all important number which will be:- NCK (2 figures) HS. The car should have matching later Griffith dials, power lock diff and power steering, and amazing but true, it also has the rubbish 2 pot Granada front solid brakes. So it's a real mix, thinking that the 350se was conceived to get rid of the last 25 bodies and most of the unwanted parts
left on the shelf from other models, Anyway that's my take. Who's 1st to shoot me down in flames!

Hello. Mr Tank thought mine might have been No20. Its Grey with grey interior but it has a odd chassis number that does not match the others. I think mine was a special order it has no number on it.
Yes, I am aware of the situation with your car and indeed the car in question is also a metallic grey with a grey interior. This car however is numbered as a No. 20 in the correct places on the coachwork. It has the correct SE wheels, comes with the original sales invoice (£24,600.00 including all extras) and the numbers of the chassis and engine match from new. There is also an invoice for a big valve head overhaul in 1999 amounting to nearly £5000.00 by a well known TVR specialist which also included a brake system upgrade. I can only conclude that it is an original. Take a look at the photo. Tony. TCB.

So nobody knows where No20 is now ?
Yes I know where 350SE No.20 is. It's in my garage. I bought it and am well impressed with it. It comes with a stack of history from new including all Mot's and bills and the original purchase invoice. It has had a big valve head overhaul and fitted with racing cams etc. three years ago and the car is in outstanding condition. Here is another picture of this rare beast!Tony. TCB.

What does it go like compared to your old 400se ???
All 4000cc Wedges are fast, but this one reminds me of the No.9 that I used to own with the V8 Developments engine and Mark Adams chip. It's got that little extra poke, so when you push it, it says give me more. I like it! I mean I really DO like it! However, the Tuscan is not a distant memory, as I will continue searching for one. I already have a BMW 645 CI convertible and now a 350SE too, all I need now is a Tuscan. They say all good things come in three's.This 350SE was just too good to miss. It would have broken my heart to miss this opportunity. I fell in love with it the moment I drove it. It's just that little bit louder, just that little bit faster, and just that little bit more fun. And, does it need anything doing? Not that I can see! It just feels odd to buy a Wedge and find there is nothing that needs doing. I sort of feel a bit redundant. Oh! I know what I can do! I'll take it on the high road and give it a blast. Let everyone in the area know 'Elvis' is back.
