Do they look expensive?
Discussion
Had someone come around to my flat yesterday to talk me about some martial arts. When he came in he said the usual:
"Is that your car outside?"
"Yes." I replied.
"It's well nice. How much was it? About £20K?"
"Uh, no. A lot less."
"Really? It looks really good."
This is not the first person who has though that the S was a lot more than it actually is.
He did ask me for a ride in it later and I obliged him with a little demonstration on the local Dual Carriageway. He was quite impressed.

I wouls say they certainly look more expensive then they really are, when mine is all polished up it gets a lot of looks. A lot more looks than my previous car did, which was a £43K Porsche!!! I parked the V8S on the high street one Saturday whilst waiting for my fish and chips and there must have been 20 people stop and look inside in the 10 minutes I was there! Age range 10-80!! Yes a little old lady stopped and looked inside, the S appeals to every age group it seems.

Probably more to do with that lovely new interior

I must admit the interior has made a huge difference to my car, I didnt like the colour schem much before to be honest. Thanks for your kind comments anyway, although neither of you have seen it in the flesh so reserve judgement until you do, most Tivs look good in photos!! They never look as good in the flesh!

Yeah Mike, but your car really does look good in the flesh. The interior is simply stunning. Makes so much difference when it's all nice and clean.
Mike, Top Dog cars showed your car in pretty close detail (I have it on video) and beleive me it looks gorgeous. The interior wasn't finished then either was it, so it must be stunning now.
Chris is right about the interior can let a car down, mine has a new carpet set but the bit under the seats doesn't match at the moment, I have more carpet and will have the seats out at some point and make up new sections and have them edged to match the rest.
My hood is OK at the back but the targa has been waterproofed with a lacquer or something and it looks a bit scruffy, Renovo won't take to it because of the coating that has been used before. So I need to recover these. The inside of each panel would also benefit from new vinyl. I also need a new rear screen sewn in. Perhaps I should just buy a whole new hood!
The passenger seat is excellent, no marks rips or anything but the driver seat has a nick in it and the base has gone saggy, so I'll need to sort that and probably have both refaced with new leather.
Outside, there is a small craze on the bonnet and one on the n/s wing next to the front wheel. I've no idea what colour my car is as it changed in the early part of it's life, I have asked on here a couple of times whether anyone with a non-metallic dark blue can tell me what the colour is or a code but I didn't get any responses. The respray the car had was pretty good and I think the engine must have been out to do it as everything matches in colour under the bonnet. I used Peugeot Midnight Blue when I sprayed the mirrors so I'll probably have a full respray in that colour at some point during next year as the paint gets a bloom on it after a couple of months (even sitting inside) so I think it would look a lot smarter with new paintwork. Oh, and a new o/s door hinge!
After that and a clean up under the hood and underneath the car should look very pristine.
All I need is time and a little more money!

If you get the information off the plate under the bonnet and ring the factory paintshop they'll tell you the ICI paint code. That's what I did.
I know the feeling! A bit more money and I could sort the car out nicely.
Hi Chris,
But the paint code will be the original lighter metallic blue not the solid dark blue it was resprayed to, won't it?
I doubt they changed the paint code on the plate under the bonnet, I'll give TVR a call and check what colour it is from the code, you never know!

Oh, well you could be up the spout. Actually take it to a Auto paint supplier and they should be able to mix up somthing that is the same or even better get you a paint code.
Yes, I believe some paint shops and suppliers have an analyser that takes a reflected light reading off the car and gives a list of the paint mixes required to match the colour. I'd have to give a few suare inches a T-cut & polish first or they'll give me a milky blue pot of paint!
It's not too bad, the photo on my profile was taken after just a quick wash last weekend.
