50k car and an MOT with 100k on it.....clocked or not? -_-
Discussion
Found this odd one on a recent classifieds trawl:
Paraphrased from the Ad but you'll get the gist.
Current mileage on odometer roughly 50,000
Past MOT in 2010 stating the mileage to be 100,000
The car looks like a car with the lower mileage inside and out.
The engine, gearbox are perfect as well and there is no suspension knocking or noises when driving.
The service history goes up to 50,000 miles.
Audi have never had the car in for any service or job over 50,000 miles
For the mileage of 100,000 to be correct the previous owner would have to have done 110 miles every day over a 23 month period
Guy reckons the dealer agreed that it was an MOT cock up and signed a document to say that the true mileage was 50k. If it's a genuine mistake surely there is a way to resolve this? This is just a clocked car someone is trying to pass on after finding out the worst surely?

The MoT history can be checked on the .gov.uk VOSA website. You need the ref. from the middle of the V5C or the number from the last MoT certificate.
It's a good way of checking history and advisories. I had someone giving me the runaround over a MX-5 last summer. 'I've been the victim of fraud so don't want to tell you the V5C ref.' There was a photo of it in the eBay listing but not quite sharp enough to be able to read the ref. from the V5C.
On the third time of asking I got it, and it had gone from having a rusty underside to the next MoT having an advisory about the amount of underseal everywhere. Been there with a brick wall when a brake line masked by underseal in a Spitfire ruptured so I wasn't interested. It was bid to more than what I'd have been prepared to pay anyway.
That MoT history check is a great tool for checking history.

Most likely clocked, unless they have proof of other bills and/or mot's ie before and after stating correct miles.
People only beleive this sort of crap because they think/hope/believe they are getting a bargain.
Loads of cars do 100k miles in their first 3 years (before they have their first mot) and a lot of these big mileage relatively new cars show very little sign off wear. And a BMW with FSH at 100k will drive as well as a 50k miles example.

It's not an RS4 is it:

What with the weekend entertainment over an RS6, I was hoping an Audi person may have had the next installment of that leggy RS4 with the shortened legs.
