An article in the current edition of Classic and Sports Car magazine (HWM-Jaguar) states the old Hagley & District Light Car Club venue at Chateau Impney may be up and running from 2014/15.

Proposal is for a 1,000 yard sprint venue.

The first event was held in 1957 over a 550 yard course and the last event was 22nd September 1967.

The current owners who are well known hill climbers plan a new course using more of the estates roads.

What's the 'light' bit in the club though? Normal road cars?

Great news, being as I'll be joining HDLCC next year to start some Hillclimbs at Loton. Another nearby venue would be good; we're spoilt in the Midlands smile

I imagine the 'light' part simply refers to days gone by when more 'sporty' cars were made lighter instead of having a big dose of extra power. 'Adding lightness' was much easier than adding power back then...

Rich, I'll be joining you in the HDLCC next year, there's also some people coming on Thursday who hillclimb around the country.

It's always good to see new venues on the calendar, and there seems to be more and more appearing.

We are lucky in the Midlands to have access to venues that are fairly 'local'.

Hi Dan,

Good stuff! I went to watch at Loton last week and I saw the Rizzla MK that was at the August trackday; is that one of your lot?

Thursday will be a good shakedown for the Rallye, but after three months of solid work it should be all good... Looking forward to it!

The hillclimb was originally run by HDLCC, but the new event will be run by the Midland Automobile Club. First event has been planned for 2015, and will probably be for cars raced in period.
