Hi

Went into the OPC in Leeds today to have a look round and asked the salesman about the Boxster coupe. He confirmed he'd been told by Porsche in the last few days that Porsche is making the car in the 2.7 and 3.2S versions and it will be "built from" April 05. He didn’t have any more details and said he’d know more in the New Year. I’ve put my name down for one.
Asked about a RS/light weight version and he don't know anything about it.

Regards

Well, an obvious light weight ploy would be to not sapecify any extra equipment- choose the lightest wheels, no options (and even leave the electronic gadgets off like PSM). I would imagine most people would specify lots of options, so a "normal" Boxster would be heavier then yours...

Do you reckon the price will be around 40k for the "S" version....?

The only reason I mentioned the RS, is due to rumours of a 300 BHP light weight version of the Boxster which have been doing the rounds along with the coupe rumours.

This weeks Autocar mentions the Boxster Coupe (GTS name has been bandied about). Basically, they reckon the Club Sport version will be about £36k, a £6000 premium over a 'standard' Boxster Coupe GTS. Whether that is a 2.7 or a 3.2, that's not specified.

Historically, Club Sports have been cheaper than their fully loaded counterparts, so if they make it (and I guess that is still speculation) £36k would point to it being a 3.2.

I have it from a reliable source that the Coupe will be 3% more than the roadster.

Strange, when every other manufacturor manages to charge a premium for the soft-top.
