Heading down the slippery slope.....
Discussion
Hi All
Looking for something to do through the long winter months so have been reading the threads on here and browsing the tinterweb wandering how I can make my 450 go quicker.
I already have larger plenum, AF and MA remap.
I’m thinking about larger heads, triple throttle plenum kit. I see there are a couple of options for the triple plenum with throttle bodies. I’ve read the threads on forced induction, but this route doesn’t really appeal to me.
Can anyone comment on the pit falls of going down this route, anyone done it? Could this leave me with an un-driveable car at low revs?
If I did this, what would I need to do exhaust wise and also injector wise, I current have standard exhaust except de-cat manifolds and standard injectors. I believe the standard injectors are pretty capable until you start to get to big BHP.
I’d rather keep the standard ECU and go for another re-map after the above work has been completed.
Any advice would be appreciated.
p.s. if your reading this and know me, please don’t tell the wife

Liam, I was in the same boat with my 450 a few weeks ago & have explored all obvious options, i.e. induction, heads, cam & remap / aftermarket ECU & ancillaries, then got caught up in the F.I. route & have done a fair bit of homework (other than driving or being driven in any of the options.
Whilst I (& NickM450) set out to stick with the naturally aspirated approach I have now concluded that to maintain driveability and leave the window open for more power on tap in the future I am now pursuing the SC Power route, although it is a close call with Eann Whalley's turbo package.
If you want to stick with N.A. I would suggest talking to Rob or Ray at V8 Developments and other similar companies for steerage & sound advice. You can of course wait for the deluge from the PH fraternity, which will most likely lead to more confusion & uncertainty !!!!!
P.S. like you, keep her indoors innocently unaware ! What she doesn't know won't hurt her !!!

Thanks for your input, I've been following your original post with interest. I think its time I gave V8 Developments a ring Whilst I (& NickM450) set out to stick with the naturally aspirated approach I have now concluded that to maintain driveability and leave the window open for more power on tap in the future I am now pursuing the SC Power route, although it is a close call with Eann Whalley's turbo package.

Have you considered supercharging? Cost around 3k
I understand its a little more than £3K by the time you've finished. I've spoken to a couple of people who have gone down this route, they suggest that you can triple this number for the install and set up.I also understand that the ones that have done this struggle a bit to get it all set up and running correctly. I could be wrong?
Now waiting to be shot down in flames

NA will get you into the 320/330-50 bhp/torque area with your 450. A tad more with a little more torque with a triple plenum with the bonus of sharp throttle response.
Do you want more?
I'd be quite happy with that, whats the secret recipe?Do you want more?
I must admit I like the look of the triple plenums

This reminds me of the 'Starship Troopers' films 'Do you want to know more' Do you want more?

Second what Phazed says, throttle response with triple is brilliant, but you need the manifold and heads suitably modified to make the most of it (and then full decat to make the most of the most). And then... etc etc
Piccies of my triple with modified air box and stuff here if you're interested

Nice idea Rob.
I'm easy, could be done, I am putting the green chim back to standard anyhow.
If you are interested Mr Plow, give me a PM.
I know you wanted to put your green one back to standard and for me it just makes sense!I'm easy, could be done, I am putting the green chim back to standard anyhow.

Sorry to hijack OP, but if you aren't interested, then I might well be.
Peter, you have mail.
I go out for a bike ride and it all goes crazy
