The end again. How many years has this been muted? Reckon every year for the last decade or more has "been the last year of Defender production". hehe

Sorry have to add, that article is complete and utter nonsense at best and total bks at worst.

The Defender has not been in production for 67 years.... and if they are claiming the "Land Rover" has been, then they simply can't claim it as the longest running. As the "Jeep" know as the Wrangler today is still in production and pre-dates the Land Rover.

The Wrangle is no less separated from the CJ's as the Defender is from an 80" Series. rolleyes

Oi!

Don't you insult my Landie!

She may be old(1984), but thanks to Mr Overfinch and latterly Mr Allfrey of Kirdford, she is fast, smooth and very comfortable and puts smiles on many faces.

A little old lady came up to my wife in Waitrose a couple of months back and told her what a beautiful car it was.

You are treading on dodgy ground with that sweeping statement!

Totally agree - and this is from the Telegraph who should be more accurate!!

Its the only vehicle that I have ever owned, where if I turn up at a potential customers house (I make fitted furniture), that they don't think because its new I'm making to much money, or if its to old that I'm not making enough. Try that with any other vehicle.

5 years ago if you'ed told me in 5 years time I'd be driving a Defender and travelled 86K miles in it, I'd have laughed in your face. If 5 years ago you had told me that no other vehicle could replace it as a daily, I'd have laughed even harder.

I love mine, as possibly you can tell. smile.

If it does finish in two years time (and I have been told it will) then I have to save hard to make sure I have one.

I own a MY12 90 XS and a BMW MY14 M5 f10, and use them both daily. You know what the defender gives just as much driving pleasure. Love it!! I can see why the following on these is massive, and I`ll be buying one of the last MY15 off the line

I've been carefully considering my next car and, aside from the lack of right elbow room - not a huge issue anyway IMHO - the reckon the Defender gives one of the most anatomically correct seating positions I can find. All personal taste I guess.

(FWIW, I also looked long and hard at VW Transporters, but found my knee clashing with the bulge in the dash for the gearshift and I was a bit confused as to why they could not get the steering wheel any closer than 25mm within the centreline of the driver's seat.)

Personally I find Defenders one of the most comfy vehicles to drive. The seating position works very well for me.

I don't really find the lack of elbow room an issue, however if you do, you might want to consider a Santana PS10. It's a development of the Land Rover 109, but supersede the Defender in many areas.

They moved the seats slightly inboard and have more elbow room.

Just been on the local news - Midlands Today - and this time it's official.

Glad I got mine ordered before the end of line rush. wink
