Just got Novembers edition (yes Novembers). Compares the 350i to TR8. The TR8 wins easy.
I think this was mentioned in an earlier thread but i couldnt be bothered searching. Was the 350i Elvis's or someone else on here? It looks perfect. Reminds me to step up my money hoarding and think about selling the "wifes" TT.
Also Novembers edition of Octane has an interesting article comparing the 60's Griffith to the 90's one.

Out of interest what particular points does the TR8 win on? (To save me hearing "Oi! This isn't a Library!!!" in the newsagent's tomorrow...;^)

Marcus, I got Octane on the way home on Sunday.. Its got me itching again...
Food for thought an all that..
I looked at V8 TR7/8's once upon a time but alot of them were bult over a weekend using Range Rover or SD1 bits and the ones looked at looked kinda hastily built.. But then i reckon i was expecting too much having just sold a REAL (not made up) factory MGB GT V8, now that sounded and looked the muts nuts, in my opinion...

In ma younger days - this was featured in Road to Record, Daily records car section back in 2006..

The i decided to just get a Wedge, then the Beast arrived. 390SE in Black

Sell the TT and just jump in and get a nice old 350, or buy our 350, but its a zed..

Isn't a genuine TR8 a very rare car, yet TR8 replicas, TR7 V8s and Grinnalls relatively less so?

Yes, TR8's r rare, like the Grinnals, but they hold a premium, the rest cobbled together.. I'm sure there's a few very nice ones around, checking the web they're fairly priced.. £2.5/£3k-ish seems the norm. Not far from the starting price of 350's.

A mate of mine has one with a few performance mods but he's wanting silly money, I'd put my money back into a Tiv or really push the boat out and get me a STAG, now that's a lurvly old mota with a cracking soundtrack..

A genuine TR8 has a weak limp wristed range rover engine that wouldnt keep up with a 350 for more than 100yds!! The shorter wheelbase does mean the back end is not as light as a wedge and it is a bit more solid due to being made of steel I would imagine. I had a Tr7converted to a uprated v8 chucking out 190bhp but it was not as quick as my wedge didnt look as good brakes werent quite as good although the peddle pressure was better. In my opinion the wedge is a better car in many ways.

Have just purchased and read the TVR / TR7_8 article with interest. Could anyone point me in the right direction with regard to the wheels that the TVR in the article is sporting as I do like the look of those. Were they a factory option or are these an after market fit ?

Any help with how to locate a set would be gratefully received

Cheers

Revolution RFX's I believe!
http://www.revolutionwheels.com/rfx/

Bought a copy of this, yesterday.
Wouldn't say it was a hands down win. The reviewer himself said he'd buy the TVR!

Some GROSS errors in there though:
LIVE rear axle on a wedge?
400BHP TVR/Rover V8 engines?

Plus some lazy copy - whilst the centre console switches are similar to the TR7 switches, I think there's only the Hazard switch which is actually the same as a TR7?

Not a bad article though. Echos the general consensus that (even with BL build) the TR7 feels more 'solid', whilst driven properly the TVR is a more potent machine.

Factory option on the Series One cars, it then became standard fit throughout the Series Two cars.
Mine (a 1.5) din't have one, but now does wink
